The main Stratford road is a focus for retail land use and also public buildings such as the Victorian library & swimming baths.
These houses are on the fringe of Sparkhill close to the outer zone. The houses are terraced but have features associated with the outer zone such as front gardens, bay windows and garages.

This two storey factory lies along the transport spine of the railway. These factory units would provide employment for the local residents.
Sparkhill lies beyond the 'Inner city' and is dominated by privately owned terraced housing. Due to the availability of development grants from the local council many are being redeveloped

Typical slate roofs are being replaced with tiles. The right hand door is double glazed reflecting investment by the householder.
