Health as no. of doctors per 1000. GNP GDP Note that world map provided is a Peter's Projection. Explain the North and South concept. Class complete Q.2 Homework: Assign each pupil a named LDC and set them to produce a summary report on the present state of development (of that country) using data for eight named indicators. Review the value of particular indicators. Sources must include wall chart in library as baseline data material, encourage CDRom sources. Internet. Each summary to include: 1. Title 2.Table of data with sources and date 3. Explanation that refers directly the data table. Max. 1 page A4 equivalent(I week)

Discuss physical units. Pupils to annotate and complete for both physical and human/ political, showing the influence of physical factors on settlement and development. Chosen codes and key to be included. Spiritual. Islam; holy sites. Differences between Islamic and secular directions for Egypt; the Suni and Shia worlds. Great scope for pupil contributions. Egypt has the Suni colleges. Homework: Finish map. EXT: addition of tourist/industrial/ archaeological/Islamic sites +notes of significance.
