Study Figures 1, 2 and 3 which show the passage of a depression
over the British Isles on the 25th January1990.
(a)  Prepare a summary of the weather on the 25th January in London
for a late night news programme.
You should describe the changes in the weather that have occurred, and also
link these changes to the passage of the depression.
(b) Flooding usually results from a combination of factors such
as slope, human activity, soil properties and storrns.
With reference to the non-urban areas of one drainage basin in the British Isles that
you have studied, show how these factors may combine to produce flooding.
(c) Describe one attempt made by people to reduce the occurrence
of flooding. 20 MARKS
2 (a) Study
Photograph A, which is provided on a separate sheet. It shows part of a rural
area within the Trent drainage basin.
(i) Identify the various human activities shown in the photograph.
(ii) Suggest the possible effects of these activities on
the hydrology of the area.
(b) With reference to a drainage basin within the British Isles that you
have studied
(i) describe two different valley
cross profiles that exist along the course of the river(s) in that drainage
basin;
(ii) show how fluvial processes have contributed
to the formation of the cross profiles you have described in B)(I) 20 MARKS

the changes in national voting patterns (in elections
to the House of Commons) which have taken place in the United Kingdom within
the last 30 years.

6 Answer the following question by referring to competition/conflict
over the use of a resource in an area with one or more of the following characteristics.
