CRUISE 2000 - ALEXANDRIA
|
|
| Three of the adults travelled out into the desrt to El Alamein. The boys stayed with Mr Phipps and Mr Hill and toured Alexandria. We visited the site of the Pharos lighthouse (one of the seven wonders of the world) and the Roman catacombs. The Romans had sacked the ancient library of Alexander destroying the ancient priceless books. To show their supremecy they erected a gigantic column to celebrate their victory which stands to this day. For most of our students the highlight of the visit was the various street scenes reflected in the images below. |
