since last inspection
KS3
1. KS3 schemes of work have been rewritten
to allow extended pupil reading, writing and oral presentation. KS schemes
formally plan for differentiation through a variety of teaching methodology.
Schemes of work broken down into individual lessons in support of all
staff.
2. Supplementary textbooks support the
new schemes - ‘Extensions'. Plus use of KS4 texts.
3. Assessment policy has been written.
This was described as exemplary by the Dudley LEA advisor.
4. Assessments are largely enquiry based
and extend all abilities. In particular assessments develop pupil centred
learning.
5. Asessment procedures allow pupils to
self evaluate.
6. Assessments have marking criteria, based
on post Dearing curriculum, integrated.
7. Assessments are regular and often delivered
by the pupil via the medium of ICT.
8. Some assessments are marked for cross
curricular ICT criteria.
KS4
1 KS4 schemes have been rewritten in response
to changes in syllabus detail.
2 Pupils receive a clear curriculum map
at the outset of the course. Pupils receive course syllabus content
in detail before delivery of each unit of study.
3 Syllabus integrates past exam questions
as assessment material.
4 Pupils receive a comprehensive booklet
in support of their project.
5 Pupils receive a clear revision booklet
in support of their revision programme.
6 Schemes of work plan for delivery of
skills throughout the KS.
7 Projects presented using word processing
and graphics software packages.
A Level
1 Delivery of syllabus content planned
for via curriculum map.
2 Integration and use of source material
- namely Geonews, Geoactive, Geofile, Geographical Review, Geography
and Understanding Global Issues.
3 Skills delivered throughout the A level
course.
4 Development of a refined A level fieldwork
programme. This programme is reflected by the content of a dedicated
KECH Boys website at http://www.letmenow.com

1 Geography store room for equipment, book
and video storage.
2 Video catalogue for over 400 videos.
3 PC and printer attached to the Internet
in each teaching room.
4 Regular minuted weekly meetings of geography
staff based on published agenda.
5 Regular half termly monitoring of pupil
books by HOD.
